Dr Rodolfo A Trivisonno, MD (Known by his patients affectionately as Dr T) received his doctorate in medicine form the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine in 1986, in BA, Argentina. After completing medical school, Dr Trivisonno became involved in research in the field of Hyperbaric Medicine, Free Radicals, and Aging. In the late 1980’s, he trained in psychiatry at the Psychiatric Emergencies Hospital of Buenos Aires HEPTA “T. de Alvear” (a University of Buenos Aires Medical School affiliate). This first post medical school training was psycho-dynamically and psycho-socially oriented. During that period, Dr Trivisonno, trained as a Freudian-Lacanian Psychoanalyst. Before advancing to his second training in the USA in a biologically-oriented program at the Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami, he held the positions of Chief Resident/Resident Instructor and Attending Psychiatrist at the Adolescent Psychiatric Unit of the above-mentioned hospital. At the same time, Dr Trivisonno established a successful private practice and became a consultant for Nursing Homes in Buenos Aires.
Dr Trivisonno completed his second psychiatric residency training in the US in the 1990’s. This second training aimed at increasing his expertise in the area of biological psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, and geriatric psychiatry. His ultimate goal was to understand further the mind-body relationship. This training was completed at a biologically oriented program with an emphasis on a bio-psycho-social approach to psychiatric treatment. At the finalization of this program Dr Trivisonno became the recipient of the South Florida Psychoanalytic Award. In the late 1990’s Dr Trivisonno relocated to Washington State to join a large community mental health center as bilingual attending psychiatrist serving a medically undeserved minority population, particularly Hispanic. He became a speaker for several pharmaceutical companies and an educator in the area of antidepressants. Over the years, and throughout a career that now spans 35 years, Dr Trivisonno has participated in numerous and diverse educational and teaching activities. He has taught and supervised medical students and residents, ARNPS, and therapists of all kinds, both in Argentina and in the United States. He held the position of an assistant faculty member with the University of Washington family medicine residency program, the Medex Physician Assistant Program, and he is currently an active mentor with the ARNP Frontier University program. Dr Trivisonno has been a psychiatric supervisor and psychiatric medical director of a large multi-site community mental health center in the 2010’s. Since the 2000’s, he has been established in a successful private practice specializing in mood, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, and psychosomatic disorders. Dr Trivisonno is a cultural specialist, speaker, and author. He is currently a faculty member with Cascadia Trainings, Inc. delivering workshops on mental health topics. He is currently in the process of publishing his book Why America Suffers: What Can Be Done About It
